Why End-of-the-year Dental Check Up Is Important?

Posted by Ed Bishay on Dec 1 2022, 08:21 PM

The end of the year is fast approaching, and the winter season is already here! Are you taking the necessary steps to maintain good oral health? Just because it’s cold out doesn’t mean the flu season is over. Make sure you’re still protecting your immune system by getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, and eating healthy. You should also continue your habit of daily brushing and flossing to protect your teeth from decay and cavities.

Our office wants to make sure you and your family are getting the best dental care possible! That’s why we recommend you come in for your end-of-the-year appointment. This is to make sure everything has been going well with your dental health so far this year. If there’s anything we could do differently or better, we’d be happy to discuss it with you at your appointment.

Cleaning Your Teeth

Your teeth go through a lot of wear and tear throughout the year, particularly during the holidays. In addition to eating more sugary treats and drinking more alcohol than usual, you also tend to skip out on your daily teeth and gum care routines. All of that can lead to plaque buildup, which will require professional treatment to remove. Scheduling an end-of-the-year checkup and cleaning with your dental care provider will help you get back on track for the new year.

Get it All Treated Before New Year

Just like every other part of your body, your teeth need regular checkups to make sure no issues are developing. Your dentist will be able to spot any decay or gum disease in the early stages, which allows you to treat it more easily and less expensively than if you let it progress. A checkup will also allow your dentist to make sure that your brushing and flossing techniques are effective enough to prevent issues like tooth decay in the first place. And don’t assume that you are alone when it comes to your dental health—many dental problems can go unnoticed and undiagnosed for years by patients who think they’re “just fine.” Don’t put off your next visit with the dentist!

If your teeth have small cracks or chips, then they need to be treated before they become more serious issues. This can also prevent you from achieving that perfect smile you’ve always wanted. If your teeth are looking a little duller than normal, a good whitening treatment may be what you need to get them bright and white again. Our dentists can help you decide which would be the best treatment option for you.

Detecting Oral Cancer Early

The importance of an annual checkup goes beyond checking for cavities and plaque buildup on your teeth. These appointments are also an opportunity to have your dentist screen you for oral cancer. When caught early, most forms of oral cancer can be cured. Even if it has spread to your lymph nodes or other organs, treatment can help to improve survival outcomes.
